We are committed to inspiring creativity and curiosity through placement programs at the Powerhouse Museum and Sydney Observatory that enhance students’ educational experiences.
Our Secondary Student Placement Program provides a snapshot into the world of museums and cultural institutions. It gives high-school students a taste of an industry that they might one day be part of.
Our Tertiary Internship Program provides hands-on learning in a particular department. This professional experience solidifies the theoretical learning of a degree program.
I am a Curatorial Intern at the Powerhouse Museum from the United States. For the past few months, I have been working with 20 of the Museum’s Greek ceramic vessels from antiquity. I have been undertaking a myriad of tasks, under the supervision of a curator, Dr Paul Donnelly, including researching and writing about each of the vessels and improving their documentation for the web.
At the Powerhouse Museum, I get the joy of coming in and working with objects many centuries old. I like to compare the Museum to a box of chocolates, you don’t know what you’ll get until you open the box up. Each and every object has its unique story to reveal.
