In this hands-on introductory course taught by Observatory educators Andrew Jacob, Melissa Hulbert and Des Barrett we will consider some of the exciting concepts of modern astronomy such as the birth and death of stars, the search for life and the mysterious dark matter that permeates the Universe. With the help of a star map that you will receive, in this practical course you will learn how to find your way around the winter night sky. What can you see in the night sky apart from the Moon and planets and how do you find them? How can you take your own stunning photographs of the night sky? There is also time to view through Sydney Observatory’s telescopes. Please bring a small torch with you.
This 6-week course takes place from 6–8pm Wednesday nights from 15 August – 19 September.
