MAAS houses one of the most comprehensive archives of historical and contemporary fashion in the world. These exclusive group tours, led by our curators, will cover highlights of over 30,000 pieces in the museum’s storage. Eighteenth-century European court dress, early examples of Australian colonial fashion, and works by key 20thC and contemporary designers such as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Jenny Kee, Linda Jackson, Dion Lee, Lie Sang Bong, Issey Miyake, Romance Was Born and Yohji Yamamoto.
You’ll also be introduced to the fashion graphics archive – from beautiful posters and illustrations to fashion photography and select works from the archives of two early internationally successful Australian models, Janice Wakely (50s, 60s) and Lynn Sutherland (60s-70s).
