Join us for a morning of fashion conversation with iconic Australian designer Carla Zampatti and Fashion Editor of The Australian, Glynis Traill-Nash.
Celebrating her 50th anniversary in Australian fashion, Carla Zampatti joins Glynis Traill-Nash to talk about her illustrious career as one of Australia’s most celebrated fashion designers. The event is held to coincide with the launch of two books by Carla, Carla Zampatti 50 Years of Fashion and My Life, My Look (a memoir).
Carla Zampatti commenced her fashion career in 1965 and quickly established a loyal following for her streamlined designs with an emphasis on tailoring. Women were moving in to the work force and the growing momentum of the women’s liberation movement was the perfect timing for women looking for a new wardrobe to represent the times. Carla Zampatti is still synonymous with effortless style that complements the modern woman’s life.
Carla has achieved many accolades over the past 50 years, including winning the first Bulletin/Qantas Businesswoman of the Year, designing a car for the Ford Company, being featured on an Australia Post postage stamp and being appointed the first female Chairman of SBS. In 2016 Carla Zampatti will be dressing the staff of Westpac in a new look to be seen across Australia.
This event is presented by the MAAS Centre for Fashion.
