Curating a Display: Workshop and Object Storage Tour

6 March, 10am-2.30pm

This one-day program is designed for staff and volunteers of small museums and the collecting sector, as well as interested members of the public. Led by MAAS curator Vanessa Thorne, this workshop will explore the basic foundations of the curatorial process relevant to curating a small display, including object selection, developing themes and writing labels. Participants will work in small groups to review a selection of objects from the MAAS collection and brainstorm ideas around theming a display and interpreting it for an audience. Display Store: ‘state of art’ deep storage tour is a one-hour tour of the new Display Store lead by MAAS registrar Scott Winston. Participants on this tour will gain behind the scenes access and knowledge about how this facility is designed to house objects for optimum conditions.

Workshop, tour and light lunch are included. Please arrive at 9.30am for registration.
