How to Make Brands and Influence People

The world is confused about branding – even the design industry struggles with the concept. Many designers think branding is corporate identity – logos, colour palettes and type styles. Awards bodies include advertising alongside identity in branding categories and industry blogs continue to compare logos, before and after. Isn’t it time we got to the bottom of what branding is in 2016?

Chris Maclean, Creative Director at Re, believes he can shed some light on the matter. Formerly ECD for Interbrand Australia, Chris has helped shape some of Australia’s most iconic brands including Sydney Opera House, Australia Post, Yellow Pages, Opera Australia and the colourful rebrand of Telstra. Chris believes that brands are living, breathing entities that should be built to evolve to meet the changing needs of people. Brands with purpose. Brands that deserve to exist.
