MAASive Lates: Sherlock Holmes

Investigate the Powerhouse Museum after hours for FREE and see the Museum in a whole new light at MAASive Lates: Sherlock Holmes (18+). Meet experts, get creative with a range of hands-on activities, tour our exhibitions and chat with our curators. Come at once if convenient. If inconvenient, come all the same.

You can also be the first to explore The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes before the exhibition opens on Saturday 3 June. Please note that entry to the exhibition is NOT included with a free MAASive Lates ticket. Tickets to the exhibition can be purchased here.

  • Speed meet investigative experts including criminologists, forensic scientists, coroners, police officers, psychologists, corrections officers, exhibition curators and more
  • Take a curator tour of our Recollect: Health and Medicine, Interface and Out of Hand exhibitions
  • Investigate your detective skills at a real life game of Guess Who
  • Master Bartitsu, Sherlock Holmes’ martial art of choice
  • Take part in hands-on forensics with experts from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Lift fingerprints off different surfaces, investigate blood splatter in a crime scene and more
  • Take a virtual reality tour of Victorian London’s sewers and learn more about these historic tunnels
  • Enjoy some cosy armchair recitals of queer Sherlock fan fiction
  • Crack our interactive The Adventure of the Dancing Men code
  • Test your mind with Sherlock Holmes trivia
  • Design your silhouette and contribute to our collective artwork
  • Arrive early for happy hour from 6.30–7.30pm (cash bar)
  • And finally, find the Museum character in disguise to win prizes throughout the evening.
