Unity3D Game Design

Masterclass in Game Design (Ages 9–12)

19 April 2017, 10am-4pm Powerhouse Museum Book Tickets

This is a one-day workshop.

Every award-winning game starts with a solid understanding of game design. In this masterclass, learn about the basics of level creation, music, theming and more, by taking a functional but minimal game and making it your own. The role of the game designer is to make the game fun. Carefully craft levels that are engaging, going back to the first principles of game development. Produce music with GarageBand, and even step into our vocal booth to record your own voiceovers that bring the levels to life.

Although the game will be built with the professional game production engine Unity 5, the principles explored can be used in any game development platform. The game made will be playable on Android devices, PC and Mac. To play on iOS devices, additional steps are required. Please see the instructions here.

Digital learning programs at The Lab focus on premium learning experiences with a high facilitator to learner ratio. All courses cater for learners of differing abilities. The last half an hour of the workshop will be open for parents to view the participants’ work.

Please be sure to read our essential information for The Lab workshops.

Please note there will be no access to the cafe on site during The Lab workshops. Lunches will need to be provided or pre-ordered.
