Performing the Self: Fashion and Identity

Duration: 2 hours
Talk

Part of the Fashion Ideas series curated by writer, curator and academic Dr Sally Gray, this panel discussion brings together creative practitioners, experts and academics to unpack the key concepts and rich social history embedded within Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson: Step into Paradise.

Flamingo Park’s self-presentation through the Flamingo Follies and new types of fashion retail space and photography were unique for its time. How was this performance of fashion and identity played out? How has this shifted with new technologies and approaches?

Moderated by Dr Sally Gray, speakers include Frida Las Vegas, Dr Karen de Perthuis and Roger Leong.

Please arrive 6pm for a 6:30pm start. As this is a free event, registrations are required, and seating will be first in best dressed. If the Theatre is full, a separate screening room will be opened. Event includes a special after-hours viewing of the exhibition.
