Sydney Observatory Day Tours

Look through our safe solar telescope with one of our knowledgeable astronomers. On a clear day, you can see the Sun, bright stars and maybe the Moon or Venus!

Please note, it is not safe to look at the Sun through any normal telescope, with binoculars or the naked eye. Doing so could seriously damage your eyesight.

After a tour of the telescope domes, visit our digital planetarium.

Bookings can be made in advance online for 2.15pm, 3.15pm and 4.15pm tours daily. Bookings are not essential for all remaining time slots – just arrive 5 minutes before the session starts. Morning sessions are available outside school times.

Please be advised that from February 2017, Sydney Observatory’s paths and gardens will be undergoing some renovations to improve access to Sydney’s oldest observatory. During these works the Observatory will remain open day and night and our Day Tours will operate as normal. There may be a small impact on our other programs, events and tours but we aim to complete this project as quickly as possible and thank you for your understanding. Please contact us on sydneyobservatory@maas.museum or (02) 9217 0111 if you would like more information.
