Wednesday 10 May 2017, 6–8pm Sydney Observatory Book Tickets

Sydney experienced its hottest summer on record in 2016-17 following the warmest year on record during 2016. The warm conditions were associated with several heatwaves breaking numerous records and Sydney was not the only area to be experiencing these exceptionally warm conditions.

So what records were broken? How much hotter was last summer compared to previous? And what were some of the climatic factors that led to these conditions? Join Senior Climatologist Agata Imielska from the Bureau of Meteorology for a talk that will unpack the hot summer and talk about forecast and warnings from the Bureau that can help us prepare for future dangerous heat.

Presented in association with the Bureau of Meteorology.
