Celebrate World Space Week with a special tour at Sydney Observatory focussed on the Moon.
Hear from curators Dr Andrew Jacob and Dr Sarah Reeves about the science of the Moon, our closest celestial neighbour. Learn about our relationship with the Moon illustrated through objects from the MAAS collection. From Galileo’s first telescope views to Australia’s role in the Apollo 11 landing in 1969, and beyond to our developing understanding of the solar system. Join us as we explore the impact of Apollo and ask – where do we go from here?
After a presentation in the Space Theatre look at the Moon, planets and stars through our telescopes* and learn about our place in the galaxy in our digital planetarium.
Ticket includes an entry ticket to the Powerhouse Museum to view Apollo 11.
*Telescope viewing is weather dependent
