As one of the three ISEA2013 exhibitions closes this week, I found myself reflecting on the artworks and wondering at the possible connections to our collection.  One of the most unusual works to experience in Synapse | a selection was Kirsty Boyle’s video Ningyo.

The Powerhouse Museum has an impressive and growing collection of robots. From a nineteenth century automaton to the Articulated Head currently featured in the Galleria section of the Museum, the study and collection of robots is something the Museum’s science curators take seriously, but also have an enormous amount of fun with; I mean, they’re robots!

As a Museum of Science and Design we celebrate human ingenuity and are interested in providing people with the opportunity to explore exciting and emerging technologies. As part of the Ultimo Science Festival, we brought together 3D laser scanning, Robotics and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for our Face to Face installation.
