Queen Mary 2 berthed in Sydney as seen from Sydney Observatory, image Melissa Hulbert
Sydneysiders had great interest in the arrival in the Harbour of one of the world’s largest cruise ships, the 151,400 tonne Queen Mary 2. What was probably not appreciated was that the ship is the only ship in the world with an on-board planetarium. Not only is there a planetarium, but with its 500 seat capacity it is comparable in size to planetariums in large cities like New York. In the planetarium passengers can enjoy a full-dome immersion experience watching shows such as Infinity Express and The Secret of the Dragon. The slight rocking of the seats from ocean waves while watching the show must provide a wonderful extra dimension to the experience!
