Sydney Observatory
4th July 1872

Sir

I have the honor to request that the following repairs may be effected to the Observatory

(1) The outside wood work Dome and Time Ball Painted. This has not been done for several years and is now urgently needed to preserve the building.
(2) Repairs to the Astronomer’s room which is falling as fast as it can
(3) The Western Transit shutters to be made like the others. They are faulty?? in construction and let the rain in always.

I have the honor to be
Sir
Your obedient servant
H C Russell

The Colonial Architect
