Sir

I am directed to inform you that His Excellency with the advice of the Executive Council has been pleased to appoint you Computer in the Observatory with Salary at the rate of three hundred (£300 p-a-) pounds per annum from the 9 Instant.

I am further to inform you that your office hours will be from 9am to 5pm and once or two hours (as occasion may require) fine night Sundays excepted. for the purpose of making astronomical observations.
