Sir

I have much pleasure in offering you the office of Meteorological observer at Cooma, with a Salary of 20₤ per an[num] commencing from the date of your first observations.

I have requested Mr Boucher of Bombala to assist in setting up the Instruments in case he should visit Cooma, should he not do so you will please not to take any steps until you hear from me again.

I send you a copy of the Instructions. We shall probably dispense with the Electrical Observations, and shall not require the 3 AM & the hourly observations recommended in Page 7.
