The Secretary
Railway Institute

Dear Sir

I duly received yours of even date in reference to the opening of the Railway Institute on March 15th.

I shall be glad to do what I can to help you at that time but pray do not expect too much because I am just now starting here the work of photographing my share of the heavens, and there are so many new Instruments, method of working …. ?? that a good deal falls to my own share until things are got into working order. It would be a help to me if you would give me some idea of the style of things desired.

[A]mongst other things I could send;…. I have a very good engraving machine of most recent style. It might be interesting to exhibit it at work, but I have no one I could send there to use it. Now if you know a young engineer who could take charge of it and who would come here first and get into…. way of using it: I will exhibit it with pleasure.

Yours truly
