Daily cosmobite: a giant red star

Antares and the stars of Scorpius. Photo Nick LombThe reddish star Antares is the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius the Scorpion. We can see it high in the eastern sky in the early evenings. The star is so huge that if the Sun were the same size it would engulf Mercury, Venus, Earth and even Mars!
