From Australia, between 9pm and 10pm AEDT, face north-east. Using the finder chart in yesterday’s Cosmobite locate the brightest star, Rigel, in constellation Orion. Now, with binoculars, scan slowly above and to the left of Rigel. Look for a pale, fuzzy ‘smudge’! You won’t see any tail but it may appear pale green in colour. It changes position from night to night. Can you see it without the binoculars?

can i get an image of this with a 400mm lens trpod etc.
exposure time please?
> Keith, I suggest searching the Spaceweather photo gallery AT http://spaceweathergallery.com/comet_gallery.html to see what settings others have used. It looks like a 400mm lens would work, the tripod is essential and you would need to take a long exposure (many seconds?) or try multiple shorter exposures and then stack the images.
Good Luck!
I saw the comet last night using a pair of binoculars. As you note, there was no tail visible, but there was a faint greenish tinge.
