Curate a display workshop and tour

Duration: 4.5 hours

This one-day program includes a workshop and tour with light lunch provided. It is specially designed for staff and volunteers of small museums and the collecting sector, and interested members of the public.

Curating a display workshop lead by MAAS curator Vanessa Thorne will explore the basic foundations of the curatorial process relevant to curating a display, including object selection, developing themes and writing labels. You will work in small groups to review a selection of objects from the MAAS collection and brainstorm ideas around themes for your display, plus interpreting the display for an audience.

Display Store: ‘state of art’ deep storage tour is a one-hour tour of the new Display Store lead by a MAAS Registrar. Participants on this tour will gain behind the scenes access and knowledge to how this facility is designed to house objects for optimum conditions. **Please note, you will be walking approximately 3 kilometres on this tour, with no seating available.
