Museum photography workshop and tour

Duration: 4.5 hours

This workshop is designed for small museums and the collecting sector. Join MAAS photographers Marinco Kojdanovski and Ryan Hernandez for a hands-on demonstration of basic techniques that can be used to photograph objects on a budget with great results. Have you ever wondered what type of lighting or background is best? Should you include a scale reference or use a mobile phone to document objects? Can you photograph objects for documentation and social media at the same time? If you have asked yourself any of these questions, then this workshop is for you.

The workshop will include two parts: use of small SLR or compact cameras and use of mobile phone cameras. Please bring your mobile phone and any camera you normally use for practical exercises.

Following the workshop, participants will take a one-hour tour of the Deep Store led by a MAAS registrar. The Deep Store is a new facility for small to medium-sized objects and provides an example of best practice collection management. On the tour you can use your newly acquired skills to take images. A light lunch is provided.
