Looking for a whole-day writing retreat for your class?
Spend a day exploring object-inspired writing in the museum, prompted by mediated dialogue and rapid response activities.
Begin in your chosen exhibition, discovering and discussing objects, artworks and experiences together with a member of the MAAS Learning team. Then continue exploring the museum at your own pace, sketching possible story or poetry ideas, and try the prompts created exclusively for young writers by Kerri-Jane Burke of the English Teachers Association of NSW. Make your own notes and observations, or see where your imagination takes you.
After lunch, retire to our POP-UP Writers’ Room. Gather your thoughts, workshop your ideas and consolidate your writing on the spot, so you can take home the results of an immersive day of writing.
This program is available Monday to Friday at Powerhouse Museum and Wednesday to Friday at Museums Discovery Centre.
