Looking for a whole-day writing retreat for your class?
Visit our POP-UP Writers’ Room in the Powerhouse Museum.
Spend a day exploring object-inspired writing in the museum, prompted by mediated dialogue and rapid response activities, with the Writers’ Room as your basecamp.
Begin with a Learning Concierge session in your chosen exhibition, discovering and discussing objects, artworks and experiences together with a member of the MAAS Learning team. Then continue exploring the museum at your own pace, sketching possible story or poetry ideas, and try the prompts created exclusively for young writers by Kerri-Jane Burke of the English Teachers Association of NSW. Make your own notes and observations, or see where your imagination takes you.
After lunch, retire to our Writers’ Room, a project space set up for class groups specifically looking to explore writing. Gather your thoughts, workshop your ideas and consolidate your writing on the spot, so you can take home the results of an immersive day of writing.
Please note that this program is still in pilot stage and places are strictly limited. Get in touch to express your interest.
