This workshop has been designed for museum staff and volunteers, the collecting sector and interested members of the public. MAAS Curator Campbell Bickerstaff will provide a detailed overview of the process of assessing objects and writing significance statements. The workshop will include in-class exercises in writing statements and discussions on the specific needs of the variety of institutions involved. Audience and researcher needs will also be discussed. If you have ever wondered about how to assess and write an object significance statement this workshop is for you. A light lunch is included.
The workshop will be followed by a tour of the MAAS Display Store, a state of art storage facility containing the collections of MAAS Museum, Australia Museum and Sydney Living Museums.
